Qasr Al Muwaiji is an impressive structure that has watched over the oasis for over 100 years. It was built in the early 20th century by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. It is best known as the birthplace of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the former President of the UAE. The fort has been restored and now houses an exhibition about the ruling family and the history of the region.
