Fortified Town

Počitelj is a historic town located on the left bank of the river Neretva. The walled town of Počitelj evolved in the period from the 16th to the 18th centuries. It represents one of the few urban ensembles in Bosnia and Herzegovina that were preserved in their integrity.

Founder: King Tvrtko I

Significance: A strategic fortress controlling the Neretva valley, blending medieval and Ottoman architecture.
