Naryn-Kala is an ancient fortress overlooking the city of Derbent in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia. It is part of the Citadel, Ancient City and Fortress Buildings of Derbent, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortress was built in the 6th century by the Sassanid Empire and played a crucial role in the defense of the Caspian Gates.
