The Great Mosque of Banten is a major site of historic Islamic heritage in Indonesia. Located in Old Banten, about 10 km north of Serang, it was built by Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin, the first Sultan of Banten. The mosque is known for its peculiar minaret which resembles a lighthouse, designed by a Dutch architect who converted to Islam.
