The Great Mosque of Sousse is a historical mosque in the coastal city of Sousse, Tunisia. Built in 851 AD by the Aghlabid emir Abu al-Abbas Muhammad I, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Medina of Sousse. Its architecture is austere and fortress-like, reflecting the need for defense against coastal raids.
