Al-Nejashi Mosque in Negash is historically significant as the site of the first Muslim settlement in Africa. It was here that the followers of Prophet Muhammad found refuge under King Armah (Nejashi) during the First Hijra in 615 AD. The site contains the tombs of the King and 15 companions of the Prophet.
