Al-Khamis Mosque is believed to be the first mosque in Bahrain, with its foundation dating back to 692 AD during the reign of the Umayyad Caliph Umar II. It is one of the oldest mosques in the region, featuring a unique prayer hall with a flat roof supported by wooden columns and distinctive twin minarets added in later centuries. The site also includes a visitor center and a museum showcasing Islamic artifacts.
